African countries urged to prioritise local consumption
Okonjo-Iweala said Africa’s share of global value chains remains low at only 8% of gross domestic product (GDP), compared to 11% for low-income Asia and 20% for some developed countries.
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has urged African countries to prioritise the consumption of locally made goods to stimulate growth.
