Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda has named Kenneth Kitariko as its new board chairman, replacing Sophie Nkuutu, who is stepping down.
Kitariko has served on the board since 2021 and chaired the board’s finance committee. He brings more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, fund management, and regulatory affairs across East Africa.
He holds degrees in law and criminal justice from the University of Essex and Saint Joseph’s University, respectively, as well as a diploma in financial analysis from the Johannesburg School of Finance.
He has also completed executive training at Harvard, Columbia, Strathmore, and other business schools.
Old Mutual praised Nkuutu’s leadership during her tenure, noting her role in strengthening the company’s governance and market position.
The company said she helped navigate a challenging operating environment while maintaining growth in Uganda’s life insurance sector.
