Flexipay, Stanbic Bank’s digital payments platform, is giving Ugandans even more reasons to smile this Easter season.

The mobile money service has rolled out a new promotional campaign where users stand a chance to win sh500,000 simply by receiving money from abroad.

Running from April 7 to June 30, 2025, the Flexipay Easter campaign automatically enters users into a weekly draw when they receive remittances via Flexipay’s international money transfer services. Each week, four lucky winners will walk away with sh500,000.

The campaign is in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and leverages trusted global money transfer services like Upesi, Mpesa, and Juba Express. It targets Ugandans receiving funds from countries such as the UK, UAE, Sweden, USA, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

“We understand the importance of this time of year for many families,” said Joseph Ndoboli, Acting Head of Flexipay.

“Our cashback offer not only supports Ugandans abroad in contributing to their loved ones’ well-being but also promotes financial stability within Uganda.”

Remittances have proven to be a lifeline for many Ugandan households, contributing significantly to economic growth. In 2023 alone, Uganda received about $1.4 billion in remittances, according to the World Bank.

Flexipay played a key role in this financial inflow. In 2024, the platform processed sh30 billion in remittances through over 11,000 transactions from countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and UAE.

As part of the Easter campaign, recipients of qualifying remittances will also enjoy a 10% cashback. For instance, receiving sh100,000 guarantees an additional sh10,000, while sh1,000,000 earns sh100,000.

Sam Mwogeza, the Executive Director and Head of Personal and Private Banking at Stanbic Bank, shared that the IFAD partnership has helped reduce remittance costs by 3%, a benefit especially significant for families in rural areas.

Over 260,000 users joined Flexipay in 2024 alone, drawn by its flexibility, affordability, and reliability. With more than a million users accessing services via smartphone, USSD (*291#), or the web, Flexipay continues to position itself as Uganda’s go-to digital payments platform.

David Berno, IFAD’s Remittances and Inclusive Digital Finance Officer, emphasized the importance of remittances in achieving long-term development goals.

“Remittances help families meet basic needs and also contribute to local economic growth through increased consumption and investment,” he said.

Flexipay’s Head of Customer Experience, Josephine Nakato, added, “Our customers can trust that every transaction is secure. Flexipay is the most convenient and affordable mobile money solution available today.”

As Easter approaches, Flexipay encourages Ugandans expecting remittances to inform their relatives abroad about this limited-time offer, and get rewarded for staying connected with home.
