Uganda shines again at global investment awards in UAE

For a third successive year, Uganda has scored big on the global investment stage, with the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) awarded as the second-best investment promotion agency in Africa.

This was during the 14th Annual Investment Meeting Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The three-day meeting ended on Wednesday.

UIA was awarded for excelling in promoting and facilitating private sector investors on the continent.

The recognition builds on recent awards at the same meeting in UAE. In 2023, Uganda was awarded as the best investment destination in Africa, retaining the award won the previous year.

It was double triumph in 2022 as UIA was recognized as the best investment promotion agency in East Africa.

Uganda received its award on the sidelines of this year's congress, which kicked off on Monday.

The AIM Global Awards celebrate the finest performing investment promotion agencies globally.

This year's congress, themed around mapping the future of global investment, drew over 25,000 business leaders, investors, and academics from 180 countries, and featured more than 1,000 speakers.

Zaake Wanume Kibedi, Uganda's Ambassador to the UAE, paid tribute to the collaborative efforts behind Uganda's success.

“We thank the government of Uganda, the UAE, the UIA, and the private sector for this joint concerted effort that made this achievement possible,” he said.

He further emphasized Uganda’s participation in the AIM 2025 as a strategic initiative to bolster the country’s economic diplomacy and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to key sectors, contributing to GDP growth and sustainable development.
