The Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) closed the week with a turnover of sh2.37b, up from last week’s sh2.07b, as 19.43 million shares changed hands according to data from Crested Capital.

MTN remained the most actively traded stock during the week, accounting for sh1.8b in turnover with 6.67 million shares exchanged.

Stanbic Holdings exchanged sh534m in turnover through the trading of 11.34 million shares. Bank of Baroda (BOBU) moved sh38.23m while Airtel and NIC Holdings saw minimal trades of sh0.8m and sh2,125 respectively.

On share price movement, two counters on the local bourse recorded price gains during the week. BOBU rose by 3.85% to close at sh27 per share while Stanbic Holdings added 0.15% to end at sh47.07 per share.

Among cross-listed stocks, East African Breweries (EABL) was the sole gainer, climbing 3.48% to sh4,924.20.

On cross-listed counters, Centum Investments fell by 4.00% to sh312.72, Nation Media Group dropped 7.06% to sh339.60, KCB Group slid 2.88% to sh1,082.48, Kenyan Airways declined by 0.32% to sh122.54, and Equity Group shed 1.84% to close at sh1,294.45.

The USE All Share Index declined by 0.31% to 1263.12. The Local Companies’ Index edged higher by 0.13%, closing at 126.73 points.
