Kampala University to graduate over 3000

According to the University's founding vice chancellor, Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, the graduands comprise 1,706 male (48.14%) and 1,838 female (51.86%) students.

KAMPALA - About 3,544 graduands from Kampala University's (KU) various campuses are set to graduate Thursday (April 17, 2025) at the institution’s main Campus in Ggaba, Kampala.

According to the University's founding vice chancellor, Prof. Badru Dungu Kateregga, the graduands comprise 1,706 male (48.14%) and 1,838 female (51.86%) students.

“Representing an impressive 13 nationalities, the students come from Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Somali, South Sudan, Tanzania, Yemeni, Nigeria, Comoros, and Sudan. These accomplished individuals will be awarded Certificates, Postgraduate and Undergraduate Diplomas, and conferred with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees across a wide spectrum of academic disciplines,” Kateregga told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) while at the institution's main campus..

He stressed that the graduands have pursued their studies at Kampala University's various campuses in Ggaba (Main Campus), Luweero, Masaka, Jinja, and Mutundwe Campuses.

“This event also marks the 26th anniversary of Kampala University's establishment, a testament to its enduring commitment to academic excellence,” Kateregga remarked.

He revealed that his university is swiftly adopting to the National Council for Higher Education's (NCHE) Competence-Based Curricula (CBC) and associated pedagogies, insisting that “The School of Education is actively leading faculty training in integrating CBC principles into regular pedagogy workshops.”

KU’s Chancellor, Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera, will preside over the Thursday event, whereas the Chief Guest will be the Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister without Portfolio.
