The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has said it will release last year’s Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results this Friday (March 14).
“Briefing of the Minister (of education and sports) ahead of the release of UACE was successfully carried out this afternoon,” UNEB said via social media platform X on Wednesday (March 12).
The UNEB team was led by chairperson Prof. Celestino Obua and executive director Dan Odongo.
The results will be released at State House, Nakasero in Kampala at 11am.
On September 30, 2024, UNEB said it recorded a very significant increase in candidature at UACE level that year, with 142,017 candidates, compared to the previous year’s candidature of 110,579.
“This reflects an increase of 28.4%,” it said.
The theme for the 2024 examinations was, ‘Embracing security and holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment.’
“This theme is a call on all stakeholders to seriously consider the security of the examinations and preserve its sacredness. This is the only way for us to be sure that the learners who have gone through this process have the grades and certificates that reflect their true ability,” it said.
The theme took cognizance of the need for holistic assessment – which is a global trend and the spirit behind the New Lower Secondary Curriculum - to assess learners’ competencies using a variety of methods including projects and continuous assessment.
