Actor Abbey Mukiibi’s son was one of the best students at the Mariam Ndagire Film and Performing Arts Center during the third graduation ceremony held at Bat Valley Theatre playground on Thursday, May 30 2024.

Actress Mariam Ndagire, the director of the institution, started by welcoming parents and then proceeded to read the names of the best students in the different categories.

Among them was Arafat  Mugambe (super student, technical crew) whom Ndagire heaped praise on, saying he put in a lot to ensure he gets where he has reached.

Ndagire recalled the time Mugambe was  a young boy. She said he used to hang around Bat Valley and noted that his success did not come as a surprise to her.

However, an emotional Mugambe said he was surprised by the recognition. He fought back tears as he hesitated to come to the front to receive his award. It was his father who helped calm him down and later he received the award.

Ndagire called upon parents that have talented children in the arts sector to send them to institutions like hers so as they help polish them.

The graduation was overseen by the director of industrial training, Patrick Byakatonda, who thanked Ndagire for the great initiative she started to educate the creatives.

He encouraged the graduates to use the knowledge they have obtained during their time at the institution to make a positive impact in the creative sector.

Singer Julian Kanyomozi, actor Sam Bagenda and dancer Annet Nandujja are some of the artistes that attended the graduation ceremony.
