Ugandan model Tricia Ahwera has jetted back into the country from Lebanon, where she finished seventh in the Miss World Next Top Model beauty pageant and was also crowned Miss Africa World Next Top Model. Ahwera was crowned in May in Beirut, Lebanon.
She came back to Uganda on Monday morning and expressed her gratitude to the people, especially her family members and manager who helped her in the journey to the crown. “The welcome that they’ve accorded me is incredible, I didn’t expect it,” said a Joyous Ahwera.
She added that with this crown comes a lot of responsibilities, especially helping out people in her home country.
She said some of the concerns she wishes to start tackling is women with mental illness and a campaign to keep girls in school since the dropout is still high throughout the country.
Ahwera however asked the government to always support people who represent Uganda on an international stage. She says she faced a lot of difficulty living in Lebanon with limited resources. She also asked the Speaker of Parliament to support her in her charitable work.
