Alien Skin, Abtex engage in verbal exchange again over failed Nkwacho Festival

Singer Alien Skin (Patrick Mulwana) and music promoter Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex have became sworn enemies following the cancellation of the Nkwacho Festival, which was supposed to take place at Forest Park Resort in Buloba, Wakiso.

In August 2023, Alien was supposed to headline the festival, organised by Abtex. Alien later announced that he had changed his mind about performing at the festival. He instead organised a show at Wankulukuku Stadium in December 2023. This further irked Abtex, who demanded that Alien Skin pay him sh70m for losses incurred following the cancellation. He claimed to have paid Alien sh15m.

Come August 8, 2023 the two men faced off publicly in an interview on Bukedde TV2's Vibe Mix show, where they traded accusations over nonpayment, disrespect and hypocrisy. The enmity had been cemented.

The two came face to face again on June 1, 2024 during the grand opening of Hamz Stadium Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds, where they continued from where they had stopped.

They engaged in a bitter exchange, with Abtex demanding for the money he said he gave  Alien as he was organising the Nkwacho Festival. 

He claimed to have the power to bring down Alien Skin.

"I have electricity that boosts artistes. The moment I give it you and you tap into it, you become a celebrity like I did to you, but when I pull back, you fail like Serena Bata," Abtex warned.

He accused Alien of not having new hits.

"Go to studio and make good music rather than making stunts that will take your music nowhere. You were big and the world feared you, but today you are nowhere and the audience is not appreciating you," Abtex said.

He swore that come what may, Alien will have to pay back his money.

"If you fail to do so, you will come to realise that we are strong men in this industry. You will keep declining as time goes. We know how to make artistes rise and we also know  how to make artistes fail. Promoters are now in debt because of you. I am not a prophet, but if you continue betraying and disappointing people like that, they will join forces and you will pay them back in a not-so-good way. You are not the first musician and your music is not the greatest. Your bravado and untrustworthiness will be your downfall in the near future," Abtex said. 

Alien Skin clapped back, telling Abtex to stay in his lane.

“I will just ask you for one thing; stay in Enkuuka (annual event dubbed Enkuuka Yo'mwaka). We need money, not jokes. I left the village to come to Kampala with the intention of working hard and changing my life, yet you are busy trying to steal my money. You failed to give me the money I wanted for the Nkwacho Festival and I pulled out of your fake deal," he said.

Alien accused Abtex of swindling his money at his Freedom City concert in 2023.

"You thought I was a fool. I used the money you gave me (sh15m) to pay myself," Alien said.

He labelled Abtex broke.

"You even foot. You have no car. For us we used the money well. You do not know how to organise events. You are poor. You cannot even organise a funeral ceremony, yet you are now asking to organise an event for me. Really? Back at freedom City, your show was poorly organised as if it was in the village," Alien said.

He urged Abtex to leave his brand alone, before vowing not to give him a single coin.

"What showed that you gave me money. You and I never signed any contract, so what can you base on to ask for money from me or claim the festival idea as yours? You have cheated many artistes, but you will not manage me. I am diffirent from those other artistes that you used to cheat," Alien  said.

Abtex accused Alien of backing out of their agreement for the Nkwacho concert with no genuine reasons. He also said he was misusing his newlyfound fame, having found him languishing in obscurity and brought him to the limelight with his successful concert at Freedom City on Entebbe Road in June 2023.

Abtex laughed at Alien Skin, saying he used to sing for between sh600,000 and sh1.2m.
 
He labelled a disrespectful young man.

Alien assured Abtex that he was already established in the industry, and that the singular Freedom City concert could not have added anything to his reputation.

He said he had already performed in many places and he could pull crowds so nothing new that was added to his career.

On his part, Abtex expressed surprise that Alien could say he never added anything to his career.
