Artiste Alien Skin arrested over assaulting medics at city hospital

Police have confirmed that controversial musician Patrick Mulwana aka Alien Skin is in their custody.

The Wednesday, November 20, 2024, development comes after the Sitya Danger singer and his gang attacked medical staff at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala demanding their deceased friend’s corpse.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said: “We have in our custody musician Alien Skin, whom we have apprehended on allegations of assaulting medical staff of Nsambya Hospital. More details to be shared later.”

New Vision Online has learnt that Alien Skin was being detained at the Katwe Police Station.

Police in a statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, said they were investigating a chaotic incident that occurred at Nsambya Hospital on Wednesday morning, allegedly involving Alien Skin.

What happened?
The investigation follows a suspected murder of Joram Tumwesigye, a 28-year-old resident of Makindye division, Kampala district, and a reported member of Alien Skin's Fangone Forest gang.

"We are also investigating a related case of simple robbery and assault targeting Dr Matovu Zaidi, Muyanda Anthony and Odongo Alex, security guards employed at Nsambya Hospital," Owoyesigyire says.

Owoyesigyire said preliminary findings indicate that on the night of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Nsambya Hospital received Tumwesigye as a patient, brought in by six unidentified individuals.

“Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead approximately an hour after admission. Following the victim's death, one individual, identified by witnesses as "Alien Skin," allegedly demanded medical forms from the attending doctor. When his demands were not met, the suspect and his group reportedly assaulted the doctor and the two security guards before fleeing the scene,” he said.

He said Police had since recorded statements from the victims and eyewitnesses.

“Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in these criminal acts. We assure the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available,” he added.

Netizens on Wednesday took to social media, particularly X, formerly Twitter, sharing videos of the incident. In the videos, members of Alien Skin’s group are seen storming the hospital reception, demanding the body of their deceased crew member. One medic was forcefully shoved to the ground as the group attempted to locate the body.

When contacted, Nsambya Hospital management confirmed the incident but declined to provide further details due to patient confidentiality policies.
