Class, glitz and glamour was the order of the day as Daphine Ampire Karema premiered her Beyond Borders movie series at Motiv in Industrial Area, Kampala on Saturday, January 27.

The 15-episode TV series, a love story that transcends cultural boundaries between Kenya and Uganda, was commissioned by the Uganda Communications Commission.

The crème de la crème of entertainers mainly from the filming sector attended the black-tie premiere, hosted by Patrick Salvado Idringi.

The premiere was graced by A-list movie and film stars, including Morris Mugisha, Eleanor Nabwiso, Brian Mulondo, Nana Kagga and Sam Bagenda aka Doctor Bbossa from the Ebonies.

Trade state minister Harriet Ntabazi, who was also in attendance, offered a cash contribution to Ampire towards the promotion of the film.

The film features Roy Tumwezera, Mariam Nyamate, Ibra Semyalo, Emmanuel Walugula and Kenyan Quincy Rapando, among others.

"Last month, the Nigerian film, The Tribe of Judah, achieved a remarkable feat by grossing over one billion Naira at the Nigerian box office. This impressive revenue is equivalent to more than one million dollars. This translates to an impressive return on the investment, let’s take a moment and absorb that in Uganda," said Karema.
