MUSIC REVIEW
The first thing I thought when I heard this song 6 years ago was, Who the heck is Slim Prince? And I was thinking he wasn’t half bad and we would probably be seeing a bit more of him in future.
Well, he disappeared because he wasn’t really part of our scene – he was a Nigerian/Swedish artiste, which partly explains why the track was such a banger, and why his delivery was exceedingly smooth.
Swangz Avenue flew in a pro for this collaboration, and afterwards, he went back to doing what Nigerian/Swedes do, which does not include hanging around the Ugandan music scene.
The other thing that struck me as odd then (it still seems odd to me today) was that Winnie actually seemed to take the back seat on this track. Yeah, yeah, I know those may have been the terms of the collaboration, Nigerian/Swedish start and all, but Winnie is A – List and all, and her vocals are nothing to scoff at.
The chemistry between the two was near perfect, and the track was certainly a hit in Uganda – I think that’s where she got the nickname ‘fire baby’ from.
What I love about the track is that it is a dancehall, but it avoids the mistake of being a lazy dancehall. The artistes go out of their way to ensure this and Slim Prince especially is in top form. The video for this track wasn’t half bad either.
