Eddy Yawe, Bobi Wine inspired my music career - Mikie Wine

Singer Michael Mukwaya, also known as Mikie Wine, has elaborated on the significant roles played by his two singing brothers, Eddy Yawe and musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine,  in his music career.

During an appearance on Bukedde TV's Enkyenkya programme, Mikie Wine narrated how he developed a passion for music. He said Eddy Yawe inspired him to enter the music scene.

However, Mikie Wine confessed that Yawe's style of music wasn't exactly what he desired. Instead, it was the energetic and rowdy music of his other elder brother, Bobi Wine, that captivated him.

The fast tempo and aggressive lyrics that defined Bobi Wine's stardom became the exact template Mikie Wine followed in his own musical journey.

"I was initially inspired by my elder brother Eddy Yawe, but I was drawn to Bobi Wine's type of music. When I first sang, I had a soft and small voice. So, when Bobi Wine heard me sing, he named me Mikie Wine — a stage name I have carried to this day," he explained.

Expressing gratitude to both his brothers, Mikie Wine acknowledged the extra efforts put in by Bobi Wine in nurturing his career. He credited Bobi Wine for discovering his singing talent and providing support and guidance that contributed to his current success.

Mikie Wine has since mirrored his brother Bobi Wine in music, fashion, and lifestyle. While it remains unclear whether the Sulubada singer will venture into politics like Bobi Wine, Mikie has aligned himself with the National Unity Platform (NUP), which is headed by Bobi Wine.

It's worth noting that the family also boasts other talented singers, including Irene Kayemba and Dax Vibes.
