Ugandan dance sensation Hyper Kids Africa are gearing up for a major performance alongside global icons Burna Boy, Akon, and comedian Kevin Hart at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, October 24.

The group announced the exciting news on their social media platform [TikTok], sharing a heartwarming video of their time with Akon, who has made several visits to Uganda in the past.

The dance group, founded by Moses Butindo in 2014, has become a household name, not only in Uganda but internationally. It consists of 42 children who showcase their skills in dance, acrobatics, mimicry and football, using their talents to bring joy and entertainment while overcoming personal challenges.

Their upcoming performance in the U.S. follows a string of high-profile collaborations, including working with American rapper 6ix9ine during his 2023 music video shoot for "Wapae" in Uganda. Over the years, Hyper Kids have also appeared with other global stars such as Chris Brown, Neymar, Ronaldinho Gaucho, and Léo Santana.

Joining Hyper Kids at the event is Ugandan rapper Kapilipiti Omubaya, who is set to perform on the same stage as Akon and Burna Boy. Kapilipiti’s unique style and vibrant energy make him a perfect addition to the prestigious lineup, further showcasing Ugandan talent on the world stage.

Akon’s connection to Uganda goes beyond music. In 2021, the Senegalese-American musician, along with his wife Rozina Negusei, visited Uganda to explore business opportunities in energy, tourism, and infrastructure.

During their visit, they met with President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni at their Rwakitura home, highlighting Akon’s interest in Uganda. The singer promised to build Akon City, a land in Mukono was provided for the purpose.
