Stellah Nantumbwe, who was crowned Miss Uganda in 2013, has shared her journey from pageantry to a divine calling in street preaching.

The former Miss Uganda has come out to explain her decision to engage in street preaching, emphasising that she finds no shame in spreading the gospel. Stellah took to the streets of Kampala to preach recently, and videos of her doing so are spreading on social media like wildfire, with most people wondering why someone of her social status would do that.

In June 2023, Stellah also preached on the streets ahead of Phaneroo Ministries founder Grace Lubega's Thanksgiving Miracle Service Crusade.

Stellah explained that she felt called by the Holy Spirit to embark on this mission, saying her faith goes beyond any earthly recognition.

With everyone wondering whether she was in her right mind, she clarified that she is totally fine and in her right mind.

However, Stellah said she is facing challenges on the streets where she preaches the word of God. People who recognise her often call her a failure. They perceive her as someone whose life has ended in failure, thinking she has turned into a beggar. Many wealthy individuals believe that street preachers in Kampala are begging for money to survive, which is not the case for her. Additionally, some rich men harass her, seeking romantic attention because of her attractive looks. Many are surprised to see such a nice-looking young lady preaching on the street.

In an interview with Stellah on June 25, 2024, she clarified that God cannot be compared to humans' pride and status.

“I will never get tired of preaching the word of God to the world, and I laugh at all those who undermine me for doing so. Shame upon them all. I made my decision based on my situation, not to please people. I faced many challenges in my life after experiencing all kinds of good things that a young, cute lady should at the ages of 19 and 25. I have seen the world and its pleasures, so nothing moves me anymore apart from God. People should not judge me wrongly. Sometimes we do things we cannot control. One day, I woke up early in the morning and heard a deep and strong voice commanding me to repent and go to the streets to start preaching the word of God to change people’s souls from sin. It was the Holy Spirit who spoke to me directly. Since that day, I decided to put down the crown of Miss Uganda, with its status and all the awards, and decided to follow God and serve Him. If He wills, He will bring them back to me; I am not commanding, but it’s by His wish. Many people think loving God and giving all your life to Him should only be done when you are in trouble or have problems, but that’s not true. I never went to God because I was troubled or had problems. No, I am not a failure and I am not broke. I am doing well financially, but my heart and soul needed God's divine presence. I love my God in all situations, and now I have happiness since I brought Him into my life. I was able to drop habits that are not pleasing to God and have reserved my life safely. Habits like drinking a lot of alcohol, minimizing and disguising people because I was of a higher class, and not settling in relationships which led me to have a variety of partners for selfish purposes. God healed my soul, and now I am pure. I know many people laughed at me, thinking that I failed financially and am not doing well mentally, but I am fine. I have no problems with my life. I am reasoning normally and am very intelligent. I cannot explain God’s workings in normal language for people to understand, but God has done a lot in my life. This year, I will be introducing my husband to the world," Stellah said.
