A global beauty pageant targeting children, both boys and girls aged four to 17 years, has been launched in Uganda.

Launching the Kids and Teens Pageant Global Uganda during a press conference at Nsambya Gardens in Kampala on April 9, Doreen Namugenyi Bagwani, the chief executive officer, said they decided to involve both boys and girls because the boy-child has been neglected.

She revealed that this is going to be the first edition held in Uganda.

Namugenyi, however, said similar pageants have been held in other countries, for example, this year in Malaysia, where a Ugandan, Michela Amato, emerged the winner globally.

Namugenyi said the main aim of the  pageant is to instill discipline in the youngsters, as well as help in talent and confidence building.

The auditions are scheduled for  April 28, 2024.
