Ugandan chef Dorcas Kirabo Basheba, fondly known as Mama D, has achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing her target of 120 hours during her latest attempt at the Longest Cooking Marathon by an individual world record.

“SPEECHLESS! With all this energy, these 120 hours went by so easily! S/O to each and every one of you that came through with all the love at High Note Bar. We did it! #MamaDsWorldRecord,” as she shared her excitement on her official social media X handle.

In the early hours of Thursday, June 6, 2024, Mama D exceeded her initial goal of 120 hours in her determined pursuit of the Longest Cookathon. Commencing her culinary marathon at midnight on June 1, Mama D embarked on this challenge with unwavering determination to surpass Alan Fisher’s standing record of 119 hours and 57 minutes, which he had set back in October 2023.

Mama D's first attempt to break the record in December 2023 ended in disappointment when the Guinness World Records review team nullified the evidence submitted due to the presence of overly branded videos.

Upon reaching the remarkable milestone of 120 hours, Mama D celebrated alongside supporters and well-wishers at the High Note Bar in Kireka, where she has spent the past five days showcasing her culinary skills. Overwhelmed with joy, she expressed her gratitude for the encouragement and shared her anticipation for the Guinness World Records team to review the evidence meticulously before officially recognising her as a World Record holder in the coming weeks.

“We came; we’ve cooked. Now, we wait! Over to you, Guinness World Records,” Mama D remarked confidently on her official X handle.
