Uganda is set to host an empowering three-day conference, the Mantle of Deborah, an apostolic and prophetic movement dedicated to equipping women for leadership, purpose, and national transformation, headlined by Apostle Isi Igenegba from Nigeria.

A groundbreaking initiative under this year’s conference is the launch of a two-year ICT training programme where 200,000 young girls will be equipped with cyber security skills to thrive in the digital world.

Beat Bisangwa, the technical advisor from the Ministry of Education and Sports, told New Vision that, in partnership with the Office of the First Lady and Deborah Impact Projects Africa (DIPA)—which operates under the Mantle of Deborah—the programme will be officially launched at the Mantle of Deborah National Conference, which will take place at Makerere University Freedom Square.

“In the two years, we are targeting 200,000 young women and empowering them with ICT skills, especially cyber security skills,” Bisangwa noted.

Recognising the growing importance of digital literacy, this initiative aims to provide young women with the tools they need to navigate and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

“We are targeting every adult young woman; we do not want to leave anyone behind,” Bisangwa added.

The conference is scheduled to take place from Friday, March 21, to Sunday, March 23, 2025, in Kampala and Mbarara.

Under the theme 'It Is Time', influential speakers and attendees from across Africa will gather to explore the prophetic declaration that calls for transformation, reconciliation, and the fulfilment of God's promises.

Pastor Sarah Sseggane from the organising committee said the focus of this year’s conference is the youth, and the organisers are ensuring that young women receive mentorship opportunities, helping them discover their gifts and find their place in society.

“We cannot afford to leave the younger generation behind,” Pastor Sseggane emphasised. “They need a voice, they need guidance, and they need to know their identity in Christ so that they can be relevant in their time.”

Mantle of Deborah is an apostolic movement that seeks to raise a generation of women who understand their God-given roles and responsibilities in society.

Rooted in the biblical story of Deborah—a judge, prophetess, and leader who arose to bring restoration to Israel—the movement calls on women to take up their mantle in various spheres of influence, including governance, business, family, and ministry.

“This is a movement of women who are empowered, who are equipped, who have risen to the place of responsibility and are fulfilling their God-given purposes,” says Pastor Sseggane. “We want women to arise, not just for themselves, but for their families, their communities, and their nations.”

Key conference dates

According to Sseggane, the conference will begin this Friday with the Builders’ Conference, a special invite-only dinner that will bring together 300 leaders from key sectors such as government, media, business, arts, and entertainment in partnership with MTN Uganda.

The Builders’ Conference aims to inspire and equip leaders to use their influence for positive change.

“We are bringing together leaders from the seven mountains of influence so they can be encouraged and empowered to lead with integrity and purpose,” Pastor Sseggane shares.

On Saturday, March 22, Pastor Sseggane notes that the National Conference will take place at Makerere University Freedom Square from 9am to 4pm. This free event is open to all and will feature prominent speakers such as Apostle Isi Igenegba, the leader of Mantle of Deborah Global, and Bishop Joshua Lwere, a respected faith leader in Uganda.

Sseggane invites all women, men, and youth to engage in discussions centred on transformation and purpose.

The conference will conclude on Sunday, March 23, with the regional conference in Mbarara at Holy Spirit Church from 2pm to 5pm, where Apostle Isi Igenegba will continue the vision of raising women into leadership roles.

“We believe this is the time for change in our lives, our families, and our nation,” Pastor Sseggane declares. “God is calling us to arise and step into His purpose. There is a season for everything, and this is the season for rebuilding and restoring.”

Apostle Isi Igenegba will be accompanied by chapter delegation teams from Nigeria, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. This will be the second time Uganda is hosting this conference.
