Nigerian singer Rudeboy visits Acholi Paramount Chief

Excitement on Friday (December 20, 2024) filled Ker Kwaro Acholi when Nigerian artiste, Paul Okoye best known as Rudeboy paid a courtesy visit to Acholi Paramount Chief, Rwot David Onen Acana II.

This was ahead of his anticipated performance on Saturday at Acholi Inn in Gulu City, the first of its kind he will have in the Northern Part of Uganda.

Accompanied by his manager, promoters, and other social media influencers, singer Rudeboy was welcomed to the palace located in Kanyagoga Ward, Bardege –Layibi Division in Gulu City by the Prime Minister of Ker Kwaro Acholi, Michael Otim.

Otim ushered Rudeboy into Rwot Acana’s house where the Paramount Chief, his family members and other officials of the cultural institution were waiting to greet and gift him.

Within a few seconds, the royal house was packed with people who entered to witness the meet-up of the artiste and the Paramount Chief.

On his part, Rudeboy hailed Rwot Acana and his subjects for the warm welcome.

He also could not run short of words to express how Acholi traditional dancers welcomed him with larakaraka (courtship) dance at Entebbe Airport when he landed in the country a few days earlier.

Acana, on the other hand, was pleased to see the artiste, whom he said he got to know about some times back from the media.

He assured the artiste of his safety during his stay in Acholi land and that he is free to settle in any part of Acholi if he wished to.

The brief meeting climaxed with a photo moment where groups of people including Rwot Acana’s family, officials of the cultural institution as well as event organizers and the press, took turns to pose with Rudeboy and Rwot Acana.

Outside Acana’s house piled scores of Rudeboy’s fans who anxiously waited for him to greet them and if possible offer them photo opportunities.

Their wishes came to pass when Rudeboy greeted them briefly before leaving the palace for other engagements of the day.

Who is Rudeboy?

Aged 43, Rudeboy rose to fame in early 2000 as a member of Psquare duo with his twin brother Peter Okoye.

After parting ways with his brother in 2017, Rudeboy released his debut solo track: Fire Fire and Nkenji Keke.

His song: Reason with me, generated the highest views on YouTube in Africa in Africa in 2019.
