A few days ago, Reign Omusoyisoyi, also known as Obedi Lubega from comedy duo Maulana and Reign, entered the studio to work on a new version of Pastor Wilson Bugembe's song Miracle featuring Rhodah K.
Titled Musenze, Reign's rendition took a political turn, subtly criticising the ruling regime and Members of Parliament from the National Unity Platform (NUP) who he said have diverged from their leader and president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
The release of this remake unexpectedly stirred up trouble for Bugembe, who found himself fielding numerous phone calls from individuals linked to the ruling regime, questioning his collaboration with Reign on the song.
During his Sunday church service at the Worship House in Nansana, Wakiso on June 9, Bugembe addressed the situation, making it clear that he had no prior knowledge of Reign's remix of his song.
Bugembe emphasised his admiration for President Yoweri Museveni.
"I hold President Museveni in high regard for the freedom he has granted us to worship and praise God. This church welcomes everyone, regardless of their political affiliations. We aim to maintain a non-political atmosphere here," he said
Bugembe also underscored his enduring friendship with Bobi Wine, expressing his love for both individuals.
Regarding the remix by Reign, Bugembe said: "While the song Musenze is originally my creation, Reign produced a remix of it without my consent. Although Reign is a friend of mine, I was unaware of his political adaptation of my song. I was taken by surprise when I saw the politically-charged version with altered lyrics."
