On Valentine’s Day, the premiere of the romance-themed film "My Love from Another Land," directed by Kevin Johns Nabukenya, took place at Century Cinemax-Acacia Mall in Kamwokya-Kampala.
Adorned in black and red, reflecting the day's romantic theme, the event kicked off with enthusiastic attendees arriving as early as 5:00 PM, showcasing various fashions in harmony with the occasion. Couples gracefully posed on the black carpet, exuding romance, while singles observed from a distance, some with admiration and others with a hint of envy.
Revelers, eagerly anticipated the opportunity to network. Despite the chilly weather, which proved challenging for those attending solo, the clicking sounds of cameras prevailed, capturing memorable moments.
Urban TV host Sovaria Hughes, who covered the event on her show "Fun Plus" with Martha Fifi, added a touch of excitement. Attendees hoped to catch the attention of the camera, aspiring to go live on TV and share their part in this romantic spectacle.
Despite intermittent disruptions in lights and sound, occasionally thwarting photographers' aspirations and causing revellers to reserve their dance styles, the movie's producers, Anu and Pablo of Familia Pablanu, adeptly maintained the event's momentum. It only became worse when on-and-off lights became the order of the day.
Around 8:00 PM, attendees entered the cinema hall to witness the much-anticipated film, whose posters had been trending since the previous year. With an average audience in attendance, the movie graced the screens with

Speaking to The New Vision afterward, Anu and Pablo, a Nigerian-American couple, disclosed their decision to relocate to Uganda and embark on filmmaking. They expressed a desire to explore life in Uganda away from Nigeria and the US, a longstanding dream.
"We wanted to come to Uganda to engage in farming, and upon arrival, we secured land to establish a farm. The idea for the movie initially started as a simple concept for YouTube, but we decided to expand it into a full-length film, reaching out to Ugandan filmmaker Kevin Johns," they explained.
The couple, preferring to be known as Anu and Pablo and citing security concerns for their children, have become popular figures on TikTok and YouTube since their arrival in Uganda years ago.
