Salvado, A Pass turn up the heat on Mariachi over Tenge Tenge 'joke'

City comedian MC Mariachi has left a section of the public fuming after a clip of him making an insensitive joke at the expense of TikTok sensation Rango Tenge Tenge at the Comedy Store recently.

Tenge Tenge has become popular for his signature  tune, dance moves and bulging eyes.

Mariachi joked that if his wife gave birth to the TikToker, he would abandon him at the hospital.

 Singer A Pass expressed disappointment at how Tenge Tenge was disrespected on stage. He reasoned that Mariachi has run out of content so he has started ridiculing children with special needs.

“Do you think people wanted to have autistic children? Do you think people want to have children with heart defects? Do you think people want to have children with tumours? I come to your comedy shows to sing, but I am tired. One comes with their parent and you spend the whole time making insensitive jokes. My message to Alex Muhangi (proprietor of Comedy Store) is to rethink the business and regulate your guys.”

Comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi observed that at comedy shows, the audience demand Mariachi’s kind of content, the reason he pulled back from hosting comedy shows.

“Sometimes what you give is what you get. There is a reason I pulled back on doing comedy shows here, the audience demands this kind of filth. However much we want to blame the comedians for uncouth jokes, we should also point a finger at the consumers.”

“Sometimes you will come with a wonderful clean set, but because it doesn’t have insults or vulgarity, you don’t get the laughs your set deserves so most guys end up giving their fans what they want. So until the audience stops consuming those jokes, the comedians will keep on making them. But this doesn’t stop the comedians from also being different, there are comedians I can never have on my stage because they aren’t willing to change.”
