Lately, the Indian Community in Uganda has embraced musical concerts where they bring superstars from their home country to perfom for them as they loosen up after their busy weekly schedules.

Considering that they incur a lot of costs in getting their stars here, the organisers  ensure they make the most of the events.

On Friday, June 14, Shri Abhijeet, who is one of the finest musicians when it comes to romantic songs in India, peformed at UMA Multipurpose Hall, Lugogo in Kampala.

The event, which was organised by coatings company Kansai Plascon in conjunction with the Bengali Association of Uganda, saw a number of Indians from all walks of life flock to the venue to enjoy the night.

With Abhijeet being the only act that was lined up to perfom. he made sure he came a little bit late when all had settled so that no one could miss out on the performance.

At 9:45pm, the lights were put off  as Abhijeet was coming on stage with the audience using their phones to light up the room.

Accompanied by seven band members, he started his perfomances five minutes later and with a great ambiance and sound inside the room, it was all set for what would later be a great night.

To ensure he put up a great perfomance, Abhijeet asked the organisers to provide him with tea that he would take during breaks, which made his voice sweeter.

He also introduced his son Bhatta Charya,, who is also a musician, to the guests and asked them to listen to him.

They ended up appreciating him, with others  standing up to applaud him at the end of his two songs he perfomed.

Gaurav Gupta one of the revellers that attended this concert said Abhijeet's perfomance was unique in relation to the others he has attended this year just.

"His melodies keep many of us going and mostly people in love. He has produced the best perfomance of all the Indian musicians that have been here this year. I would give him a 9/10. You can clearly see how the audience was very happy,'' said Gupta.

Abhijeet went on up to 11:10pm and none of the people were moving an inch from their seats till the end of his perfomance as they clearly were enjoying with others singing along.

Daniel Kayongo, the brand manager of Kansai Plascon,  said their support towards the Indian community is something that will continue because of how important they are to the Ugandan as a country.

He added that Indians will continue seeing more artistes from their country come here to entertain them so as they don't get left behind.

All proceeds from this event will go to building of classroom blocks at Kitante Primary School.
