“I remember I was seven months pregnant with this little man (points at her son),  during that concert, but the energy I used on stage was quite remarkable. After the show, my feet were swollen and hurting."

Despite waiting for over two hours before Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage could show up for the press conference held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on July 28, her fans, journalists, musicians, influencers and partners were treated to a dose of energy and exciting remarks when she finally arrived.

Guarded by not just her security detail, but also her seven-year old son, Jamil Balogun, Savage made her way into the presser room with quite the smile, despite the visible jet lag effects on her face and physique.

When given the opportunity to speak, Savage started by describing a small hiccup that happened at Entebbe International Airport, losing all her luggage that had clothes.

The Nigerian singer arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday afternoon, July 28, ahead of her performance at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, July 29.

She then requested for plugs to local fashion designers who could get her what to wear at the show in just 24 hours.

Savage recapped her 2015 concert, notably reminding the room of how tricky it was for her.

“I remember I was seven months pregnant with this little man (points at her son),  during that concert, but the energy I used on stage was quite remarkable. I danced with so much energy and passion. After the show, my feet were swollen and hurting. I still have those pictures actually,” she said.

Savage promised her fans an even bigger show today, July 29, at Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kampala.

When asked about which Ugandan female musicians she is looking out for, Savage said, unlike other international headliners who wait for their time to perform before they arrive at the venue, she is going to be at the venue much earlier so that she can watch every artiste perform.

“I can’t wait to see all of them performing,” she said.

It was at this point that musicians Karole Kasita and Lamu stood up to announce their presence, and request to work with Savage on a collaboration.

Savage responded: “I see you,  and I love you, too.”

Vision Group, represented by Lorraine Tukahirwe from the marketing department, revealed that they had to get on board for the concert because an artiste of Tiwa Savage’s calibre is one that cannot disappoint when it comes to delivering quite the show.

Savage closed her remarks by calling upon her fans to turn up in large numbers because she brought, together with her band, a lot of good vibesa and energy.
