“Marilyn and I are ordinary people. We have many extraordinary stories, but the remarkable and miraculous things in the book's pages have little to do with our ability, courage, or strength. We have been privileged to participate in God’s remarkable work,” Gary said.

The book recounts the journey of the Skinners from the inception of Kampala Pentecostal Church in 1984, amid civil war, to its evolution into the globally renowned Watoto Church.

In a commemoration of four decades of service, Watoto Church Ministries is set to launch Where Faith Lit the Way, a memoir by Pastor Gary Skinner, the founder of the church.

The narrative, which chronicles the journey of Gary and wife Marilyn, is set to be unveiled on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Watoto Church Downtown, Kampala at 6:00pm.

The book recounts the journey of the Skinners from the inception of Kampala Pentecostal Church in 1984, amid civil war, to its evolution into the globally renowned Watoto Church.

The narrative transforms tragedy into triumph, illustrating how steadfast faith can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.

“Marilyn and I are ordinary people. We have many extraordinary stories, but the remarkable and miraculous things in the book's pages have little to do with our ability, courage, or strength. We have been privileged to participate in God’s remarkable work,” Gary said.

Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, the team leader of Watoto Church Ministries, expressed excitement about the launch.

“We have been eagerly waiting for this book that captures our story as Watoto from our founders. As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, we are excited to launch Where Faith Lit the Way," he said.

The memoir will be available for purchase at all Watoto Church campuses offices, starting June 21, 2024.

The launch is part of a series of events celebrating the church’s 40th anniversary, including an album launch by the Watoto Children’s Choir and Bethany Music from the US and the launch of an agribusiness institute in Gulu.
