Last night (Wednesday, July 17), social media was awash with the news that the police had arrested King Saha during his stage performance at The Villa Bar and Lounge in Bukoto, Kampala.
However, we have since clarified that Saha was not arrested although the Police stopped his performance.
While speaking to New Vision, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire refuted the claims, saying they have nothing against the artiste and cannot stop him from performing anywhere.
According to Owoyesigire, police ordered the owners of the venue to close business for the night because of the overwhelming number of people who had even caused much traffic on the road yet they (bar management) had not got Police clearance for the event.
Owoyesigire also cautioned that bar owners who host artists for what they call nights are going to start getting permission from the Police as a precaution.
Henry Arinaitwe, who had organized the night, says they have been organizing such events without Police interruption and so were surprised when they were ordered to stop the performance.
King Saha's performance started at 11:40pm and just as he completed his second song, Arinaitwe approached him and told him that Police had ordered them to stop.
It did not go down well with the singer, who told Arinaitwe to ask the police to wait for him to complete his planned performance set.
“Just don’t argue with Police. Tell them to come after me on stage if they wish," Saha reportedly told Arinaitwe.
The performance was blocked while he was performing Ebiseera, a party anthem.
Contrary to reports that he had been arrested, King Saha simply stepped off the stage, went to his car and drove off.
