40-year-old woman gives birth to sextuplets

MBARARA  - On a remarkable and joyous occasion, Glorious Betonde, 40, and resident of Nyamufumura ward, Sheema central division in Sheema Municipality, has given birth to sextuplets - five boys and one girl.

The babies were delivered via cesarean section at Neo Care Fertility Centre in Mbarara City, seven months into her pregnancy.

"I am overjoyed and grateful for this blessing." It's a miracle," Betonde burst out, overwhelmed with happiness, after giving birth to six children during her second delivery. 

The sextuplets were transferred to the intensive care unit at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital in Nyamitanga, Mbarara city, for further management on Good Friday last week.

Vincent Tumwesigye, the father, shared his joy, saying, "This is an incredible blessing. We are thrilled and grateful for the gift of six beautiful children."

Celebrating the success, Dr. Mike Kyewalyanga, a paediatrician at the hospital, noted that as they welcome the babies, they are aware of certain challenges, including feeding and breathing difficulties.  

" However, we are confident in our ability to manage their care, having handled similar cases successfully in the past," he added.

Various people have since congratulated the couple. Many describe the bundle of joy as miracle babies.

Moses Bansigaraho Bishweko, the LC3 Chairperson for Central Division, has extended his warmest congratulations to Glorious Betonde on the remarkable birth of her sextuplets. Expressing his joy and admiration for the new mother, Bishweko wished Betonde and her family all the best as they embarked on this new chapter.

"I'm thrilled to hear about the birth of Glorious Betonde's sextuplets," Bishweko said. "This is a truly remarkable and joyful occasion, and I wish the family all the happiness and success in raising their children," said Bishweko. 

The birth of sextuplets is a rare occurrence, and the medical team at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital is dedicated to providing the best possible care for the babies.
