EAMV donates sh10m to Buganda in Fight against HIV/AIDS

East African Medical Vitals (EAMV), has made a contribution to Buganda Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to combat HIV/AIDS with a sh10 million donation.

This donation marks a meaningful step in the fight against one of Uganda’s most pressing health challenges.

The cheque handover ceremony took place at Bulange, Mengo. It was handed over by Ben Kavuya, the Chairman of EAMV to Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda.

For EAMV, this donation is part of a broader mission to improve health outcomes in the region and reinforce its role as a corporate entity that understands the importance of community engagement.

"As a responsible corporate entity, we are more than happy to support health-related initiatives. The donation is not simply a financial transaction; it was a statement of shared values and a recognition of the impact of HIV/AIDS on the broader community,” Kavuya noted.

The ceremony was graced by the Katikiro who expressed deep appreciation for EAMV’s support. Mayiga, who has long been a key figure in the Buganda Kingdom’s efforts to address health issues, commended EAMV for their continued commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS.

"We appreciate their support for Kingdom activities and their commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS. We acknowledge the vital role that corporate entities can play in complementing governmental and community-led initiatives,” Mayiga highlighted.

The Kabaka Birthday Run, a high-profile annual event that takes place in honour of the birthday of the King of Buganda, has become a powerful platform for raising awareness, challenging stigma, and bringing together communities to fight against HIV/AIDS.

By supporting the event, EAMV is helping to amplify the conversation surrounding HIV/AIDS in Uganda, encouraging open discussions, and mobilizing the community to take action.

The initiative is also crucial in breaking down the stigma that often surrounds people living with the virus and providing critical resources to support those most affected.

Uganda continues to face significant challenges in addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the disease remaining a serious health concern despite the strides made in prevention and treatment.

The Kabaka Birthday Run and similar initiatives are vital in sustaining momentum in the fight against the virus, educating the public about prevention methods, and providing resources for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Joseph Kigozi, a local health expert, emphasized the critical role of private sector involvement in Uganda's ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS.
