The deputy director of the State House Health Monitoring Unit, Dr Julian Nabatanzi, has cautioned health workers against holding morning staff meetings, warning that they delay service delivery.
Dr Nabatanzi made the remarks during a dissemination meeting in Kumi district, where findings from recent operations by the Health Monitoring Unit were shared.
The meeting was part of wider efforts to strengthen Uganda’s health system and promote citizen ownership of health services.
She noted that early morning meetings consume valuable time, delaying patient care and undermining the efficiency of health facilities.
She recommended that such meetings be scheduled for the afternoon to avoid interfering with patient services.
“Morning meetings are costing patients valuable time. I recommend that health workers hold them in the afternoon to avoid disrupting service delivery,” Dr Nabatanzi advised.
Several officials who attended the meeting also shared their thoughts on the recommendations presented.
Meanwhile, Kumi district health officer Emmanuel Ongala expressed optimism that the new measures would significantly improve service delivery in health facilities across the district.
