All the 12 COVID-19 patients that were admitted at the China-Uganda Friendship Hospital, Naguru in Kampala, have been discharged.
The 12, all Ugandan trucker drivers, were discharged on Friday afternoon at a low-key function presided over by the hospital’s director, Dr Emmanuel Paul Batiibwa. The cured individuals had been in the hospital for two weeks.
“We have discharged all our patients today and now we are open to admit new ones,” he said, noting that the hospital has a 12-bed capacity.
The group was driven to their homes by the hospital ambulance after each receiving a COVID-19-free certificate.
In a joint statement, the drivers applauded the hospital medics for taking care of them and appealed to the Government to ensure that the medics are paid on time.
