ANKOLE - Celebrations marking the 14th anniversary of Bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa as the 5th bishop of Ankole Diocese got underway on Sunday, July 21, at Ruharo hill, the diocesan headquarters, with the launch of Revival TV, one of the diocese's notable projects.

Col. Edith Nakalema, head of the State House Investors Protection Unit and a former student of Bishop Mwesigwa, served as the chief guest.

Sunday's ceremony attracted attendees from various parts of Uganda and was honoured by Rt Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, who served as the guest preacher.



Bishop Mwesigwa was consecrated at Ruharo grounds on July 18, 2010, becoming the 5th bishop of Ankole Diocese.

Described as a dynamic, visionary, and strategic leader, his 14-year tenure has seen Ankole Diocese achieve significant growth. His leadership has spearheaded several development projects, including five commercial buildings in Mbarara city, which contributed 24% of the diocesan quota.

The projects include the St. Paul Shopping Mall, the Church Community Centre, the ongoing Mothers Union Complex, the Pension Project, and the Golden Jubilee Building, which was set to be completed in two months.

Other initiatives under his leadership have encompassed coffee cultivation, Millennium SACCO 2012 Ltd, Revival Junior School, and Revival Girls High School, all of which have supported institutions across the diocese.
