The Deputy Commander of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Forces, Maj. Gen. Sam Okiding, has cautioned Military Police officers to be careful on how they think about certain things.
“Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts,” Okiding said, quoting from the Bibilical book of Proverbs, which he said, cautions against bad thoughts.
Okiding was speaking during the pass out of 255 military police trainees, who over the weekend completed a four-months training at Masindi Military Police Training School.
A statement issued by the UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, out of the 255 trainees, 223 are male and 32 female officers.
“The trainees have been undergoing a 4-months basic Military Police Course level 3 under intake 14 of 2021/2022. Training commenced on December 13, 2021 with trainees undergoing different course contents including but not limited to; Public Order Management, VIP protection, Martial Arts and physical training, Military Police duties, Map using, amongst others,” the statement noted.
According to the statement, Okiding also urged military police officers to “remain firm and be focused as they strive to go to higher heights in the forces.”
During the pass out ceremony, the Commander Military Police Brigade, Maj. Gen Don Nabasa, implored military police officers to “love their job and serve the country well”.
Nabasa added that “many Ugandans would wish to have the same opportunity” to serve the country as military police officers but are not as lucky as the passed-out officers.
“Take care of your health. You can only achieve everything if you are healthy,” Nabasa cautioned the officers, noting that discipline and integrity are key elements that UPDF espouses.
