The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Moses Banja, has urged Ugandans to be extremely mindful of their health, stating that Christ, who is risen, delights in both healthy bodies and souls.
The bishop made the remarks during his Easter Sunday sermon at St Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe, in Kampala.
"Be aware Mpox is killing people, including here in Kampala. You need to be careful. Ebola itself and other diseases are still a threat—guard your life," Banja said.

Despite the morning downpour and chilly weather, Bishop Banja commended the Christians who braved the conditions to attend the service, encouraging them to keep their hope in Christ and always remain thankful.
He reminded the congregation that their continued existence is a result of the Lord’s love and grace.
"For us to be alive, depending on what people are going through, we need to thank God with a hand clap," Bishop Banja rallied Christians.

He warned against excessive attachment to material things, saying such greed leads not to peace but to anxiety.
"Greed has resulted in grand corruption, which has not spared the traffic on our roads," he said.
He continued, "That is why land for the poor is being grabbed, people are being beaten and tortured, hatred, greed, domestic violence. Let the resurrection of this year bring peace."
"Allow those to die in you so that you are able to resurrect with Christ. Allow Christ to break those yokes," he added.
Banja also advised the public not to worry about the upcoming 2026 general elections, but instead to put their trust in God.

He urged aspiring politicians not to treat the elections as a matter of life and death.
"But trust in the decision God makes through the people. Whether you are elected or not, trust in God's choice. Seek God's kingdom first, and the rest will be added unto you," Banja said.
The prayers were attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko, Patrick Luwagga Mugumbule, who represented the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, and the Kabaka's senior palace advisor, Apollo Makubuya, among others.
After his sermon, Bishop Banja received several Christians who accepted Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.
