Founder and Senior Pastor of Christianity Focus Ministries (CFM) Bishop David Kiganda has called upon Christians to desist from criminality, saying it is costly for both the sinner and the Government.
Delivering his Christmas sermon to hundreds of Christians who turned up for prayers at CFM on Monday, the prelate urged the faithful to reflect on their deeds and embrace godly actions.
“Let the world do only what pleases Jesus. We are here to commemorate his birth, yet he paid a heavy price when he died for our sins. So, let us avoid committing crimes. Keep and maintain peace wherever you are or go for this is what Jesus expects from you. Why does the government have to spend billions on investigating and averting crime, yet we can stop being criminals and from doing the contrary,” Kidaga said.
He stressed that Jesus stood surety for sinners and, therefore, Christians should also emulate the same, aid those in need, and promote justice as well.
“A criminal cannot stand a surety for a criminal. So, repent and have relevance for the Lord,” Kiganda added.
Tax waivers
Kiganda also used the occasion and urged the Government to waive taxes on all church-related equipment, saying the type of work they do is charity, and non-profit and that it develops people who in turn pay taxes.
“If the Government can’t supplement our budgets, then let there be tax waivers on microphones, loudspeakers, and all other equipment we import for use during Christian ministry,” he suggested.
