President Yoweri Museveni called on all citizens to strive diligently
to lift themselves out of poverty.

Addressing, thousands of Christians at the Uganda Martyrs Day Celebrations at Namugongo in Kampala he emphasised the importance of hard work, resilience, and unity in achieving economic self-sufficiency and improving living standards.

Specifically, the President appealed to the Christian community to lead by example, leveraging their faith and values to drive economic progress.

“You the young people spend too much time watching European football and don’t care about what is happening in Africa.

Speaking at the celebration, the President outlined his vision for a prosperous and self-reliant nation. He urged every citizen to embrace hard work as the key to overcoming poverty, the President stated.

The President also addressed the Christian community, encouraging them to harness their faith as a source of strength and motivation. 

He praised the community's contributions to social and moral development and urged them to take a proactive role in economic activities.

Museveni said the faith teaches the value of hard work, perseverance, and helping those in need.
