Christian believers have been urged to emulate Jesus Christ’s sacrificial example if they are to please their Creator. They were called to follow in Christ’s footsteps by offering selfless service to humanity—an act that draws them closer to the heavenly throne.
The call was made by the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Bbanja, while presiding over the Easter carols to mark the beginning of the holy season for Christians. The event was held on April 14, 2025, at the Bishop’s residence in Namirembe.
During the event, the bishop called on Christians to practice servant leadership, saying it is the only way they can restore their relationship with God.
“Since the time of Jesus’ death and resurrection, generations have fallen short of God’s righteousness. To renew the relationship, we need to serve with selflessness like our Lord Jesus Christ did,” Bbanja said.
He urged Christian believers to rekindle their faith in Christ during the Easter season, which he said is intended to deepen believers' trust in the Son of God.
Last week, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Samuel Kaziimba, also urged Christians to intensify efforts in the fight against corruption.
During the Easter season, Christians commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, symbolising the triumph of life over death.
The season follows Lent, a period of fasting and penance, and includes Holy Week with special services to mark key events leading up to the resurrection.
Easter Sunday itself is a major celebration, often marked by sunrise services and special church readings.
