Gulu Police probe suspected murder in city

Homicide detectives in Gulu city have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of an unidentified woman. Her lifeless body was discovered wrapped in a white polythene bag and dumped along Acholi Road in the city centre on December 2, 2024.

The Gulu Central Police Station (CPS) received a distress call early that morning, prompting officers to rush to the scene. They recovered the body and transported it to the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. Efforts are ongoing to ascertain the identity of the victim.

According to Aswa West Regional Police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong, no identification documents were found on the deceased.

He urged anyone with information about a missing person to report to Gulu CPS. “We also appeal to the public to provide any relevant clues that could help identify the perpetrators of this heinous act,” Mudong said.

No arrests have been made yet, but Police remain committed to apprehending those responsible. The public has been encouraged to share information confidentially to aid the ongoing investigation.

Kampala incident

Meanwhile, on Monday, the discovery of an unconscious woman at Kikoni in Wandegeya on Monday, December 2, 2024, is under police investigation. Found at around 1:40 am, the woman was rescued by 999 Patrol car and taken to Mulago Hospital for medical care.

Authorities are working to establish her identity and the circumstances that left her in such a state. Police have appealed to anyone with relevant information to assist in the ongoing investigation, according to a Police report.
