In relation to this, she will steer the club towards supporting Rotary’s seven focus areas.

The areas are; promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies and protecting the environment.

Rando expressed appreciation for the work that Rotarians undertake.

“The motto of Rotary is services above self. The motto for Nile Breweries is to have a future with more cheers. The motto of Rotary is a fantastic model, we shall collaborate in projects, extend the reach, amplify and create a future with more cheers,” Rando said.

Joshua Ssemakula the outgoing president of the Lubowa Rotary Club said that in his term they engaged in organizing medical camps where HIV testing, diabetes screening and pressure tests were done.

Ssemakula recalled that last year they organised Christmas carols, and fellowships, nurtured Rotaractors and inducted new members. He urged members to bring in their friends as building membership is a shared responsibility.

According to Rotary International president Stephanie Urchick, the world is facing incredible challenges and disasters driven by climate change and conflicts.

"Measures taken by Rotary leadership to end critical challenges make our organisation stronger. This kind of essential leadership creates new levels of cooperation even among rivals."

“Through Rotary’s service, incredible things can be achieved to make the world a better place. Rotary brings the magic of hope, compassion and change. With each project we create lasting impact and transform lives,” Urchick explained. She emphasises the values of integrity and promoting goodwill as Rotarians provide their service and care.

Agnes Batenga, the Rotary district governor-elect urged members to re-energise and re-focus. Batenga tipped them to focus on the four priority areas of increasing impact, expanding reach, enhancing participant engagement and adapting.

“If you do not have set targets, do not have strategic plans, this is the time to have them in place and be intentional in their use,” Batenga said.

Elizabeth Kintu, past president Lubowa Rotary Club, advised people to remember to take care of themselves amid their busy schedules. Kintu explained that taking care of oneself includes the use of meditation, having regular breaks and solo retreats among others.

“In a society that glorifies busyness, let us remember that our worth is not measured by our productivity. True fulfilment comes from nurturing ourselves, body, mind and soul,” Kintu who was the installation chair added.
