The widow to the late, Nice Bitarabeho, had sought court that the deceased be buried in the same area while his mother Rosie Kabise wanted the burial to take place at her matrimonial home in Tororo district.
However, Friday (March 26, 2021), High Court Judge, Lydia Mugambe ordered that the deceased be buried at his land in Kabalore as requested by the widow.
On March 5, the burial of late Kasango was postponed indefinitely to allow his family and in-laws reach an amicable agreement on where to rest his remains.
“Court, therefore, orders that Kasango is buried at his land in Fort Portal City in Kabalore district within four days,” Mugambe ruled.

On Tuesday, Mugambe set the ruling date after hearing testimonies of Bitarabeho, Kabise and late Kasango’s cousin Micheal Esau Opilly.
The case was prompted by an application filed by Bitarabeho on March 12, 2021.
Bitarabeho said she and the late were blessed with three children, namely, Samora Kasango, Stephanie Kasango and Ivana Kasango.
In her application, Bitarabeho wanted court to restrain Kabise or anyone claiming any right through her from interfering with her (Bitarabeho) in burying the deceased in Gweri village.
Bitarabeho said she and the late were blessed with three children, namely, Samora Kasango, Stephanie Kasango and Ivana Kasango.
According to court documents, Kasango passed away on Feburary 27, 2021 at Luzira Prison and the next day the Uganda Prisons Services released the body of the late to Bitarabeho as the named next of kin for burial.
On March 3, the funeral service for the deceased was held at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, Kampala.
The applicant contended that her late husband wanted to be buried in Gweri village, where they built their country home.
Upon his demise, Bitarabeho says she made arrangements to hold a wake in vigil at their home in Butabika, Luzira, pending funeral arrangements and requiem service for the late Kasango.
“After some discussions and while at the wake prior to the funeral service, a meeting was convened with all people concerned including Kabise and it was agreed that the deceased be buried in Fort portal and all arrangements were made for this to go ahead,” the applicant revealed.
The deceased is finally to be buried at his country home in Kabalore and not Tororo district.
Subsequently, on March 3, the funeral service for the deceased was held at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, Kampala.
Bitarabeho, however, claimed that after the funeral service, Kabise in connivance with other people wrongfully and unlawfully without her or their children’s consent forcefully took the deceased’s body from church and attempted to transport it to Tororo for burial.
Following the dramatic scenes, the applicant said she contacted police and the deceased’s body was recovered in Namugongo enroute to Tororo and has since been placed at the A Plus Funeral home.
“It is only fair and equitable that the body of the late be unconditionally released to the applicant for burial in Fort portal,” she requested.
