LUWERO - Yesu Anaijali Orphanage Home in Bamunanika, Luwero, is set to receive a biogas digester and a new toilet facility, from the Rotaract Club of Muyenga Tank Hill.

Club president Ivans Kizza says the initiative is part of their efforts to improve the living conditions of orphans at the facility.

"Through this project, we have adopted Yesu Anaijali Orphanage Home to help transform the lives of the children by providing sustainable sanitation and energy solutions," Kizza stated.

The biogas digester will convert organic waste into clean energy, reducing reliance on firewood and improving hygiene at the orphanage.

He explained that the orphanage houses underprivileged children, and after conducting a needs assessment, the club discovered that the home was struggling due to a lack of funding. The orphanage owner has been sustaining the children primarily through farming.

Last year, during the project's first phase, the club visited the orphanage and donated food items and clothes to the children. Additionally, they provided mama kits to expectant mothers, reusable sanitary towels to girls in the community, and planted over 500 trees.

Speaking on February 28, 2025, at Hotel International Muyenga Kizza said in partnership with other clubs, they plan to implement similar projects in different parts of Uganda to improve people's lives.

District Rotaract Representative Joseph Ssengooba commended the Rotaractors for mobilising resources and attracting partnerships, adding that this has empowered them to achieve their ambitious goals.

The Rotaractors appreciated their mother club, the Rotary Club of Muyenga Tank Hill, for the support rendered to them.
