Muslims in Kagadi district have been asked to strive for social values and work ethics to promote peace and socio-economic development.

Sheikh Muhammad Isingoma, the Kibaale district Kadhi, made the remarks while leading prayers at Kagadi Main Mosque in Kagadi district on Sunday.

“As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, we should remember to abide by our professional and work ethics in areas where we execute our duties. The ritual of animal slaughter on Eid al-Adha presents unique opportunities for promoting work ethics and exhibiting the cultural and social aspects of food and its importance in bringing people together, fostering teamwork, and building relationships,” said Isingoma.

He called on Muslims to develop a culture of sacrificing meagre resources for the education of children and to remember those in need, such as orphans, prisoners, widows, widowers, and the elderly.

Abdu Rahaman Nuwagaba, the Imam at Kabuga Bilal Mosque, while leading Eid al-Adha prayers, asked Muslims to use Eid al-Adha to promote the importance of studying health and medical sciences for children.

“Eid al-Adha should help us to understand the concept of selecting healthy animals for slaughtering and their welfare, as well as proper techniques for slaughtering animals with minimal pain and suffering,” said Nuwagaba.

He further noted that the act of distributing meat from sacrificed animals to those in need can teach children about the importance of charity and giving back to the community, as well as educating the younger generation about food security and the role of nutrition in promoting health and wellbeing.

Sheikh Isaace Semakula, the Kagadi district Khadi, while leading prayers at Muhorro Main Mosque, reiterated the need for Muslims to desist from sacrificing their children for wealth through murder and ritual sacrifice.

“I appeal to Muslims to shun acts of ritual murder and human sacrifice, which are ungodly and satanic in nature. I strongly condemn some people who depend on ritual murder to obtain wealth. This is a curse and a misconception about sacrifice for Allah,” said Semakula.

Kakumiro

In Kakumiro district, Sheikh Rajab Abubakah Kyeyune, the district Khadi, asked Muslims to preserve the environment and desist from forest and wetland destruction.

“As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, we should also remember to avoid compromising nature and Allah’s creative features for the young generation through encroachment and burning charcoal for our livelihood. Climate change is real and has negative impacts on our lives and nature,” said Kyeyune.
