KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni has made new appointments to the Judiciary, one of the three arms of the government.
Among them is Justice Flavian Zeija as the new Deputy Chief Justice to replace Richard Buteera, who is due for retirement this year when he reaches the age of 70.
Nzeija has been serving as the Principal Judge.
In a Friday release from the President's press team (PPU), Justice Muzamil Mutangula Kibeedi has been appointed to the Supreme Court.
The President has also appointed eight justices of the Court of Appeal.
Additionally, he has appointed 21 judges of the High Court in acting capacity for a period of two years.
They include Sarah Langa Siu, who has been the Chief Registrar, and former Uganda Law Society president Simon Peter Kinobe Mutegeki.
Museveni made the appointments using powers vested in the President by Article 142(1) & (2) of the 1995 Constitution.
He has since forwarded the names and CVs of all appointees to Parliament for approval.
