New unit to coordinate private prosecution cases in offing

“If created, we believe that the unit will help to bring order in such matters and also address the issues of hostility so that we work as brothers and sisters but not to fight," said senior state attorney Timothy Amerit on Friday.

"Currently some state attorneys see a private prosecutor as an enemy, which shouldn’t be [the case]. That office (unit) would help create harmony because the DPP appreciates private prosecution and its impact in regard to access to justice, accountability and transparency,” said Amerit (Pictured).
