Kenneth Ojok, a 25-year-old security guard at Stone Wall Security Group, is behind bars for allegedly shooting dead his colleague, 27-year-old Sharon Akworo, before injuring another.
The tragic incident occurred earlier today (Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025) at the office of the Stone Wall Security Group located on Commercial Road, within the Laroo-Pece division of Gulu City.
The harrowing incident unfolded around 7:20 am when Ojok returned to the office after his morning shift. Upon entering, he found Akworo already present.
Eyewitness reports indicate that without any warning, Ojok drew his firearm, and shot Akwaro in the head.
In a chaotic sequence of events, he also shot Grolia Aceng in the stomach, leading to her immediate evacuation to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for urgent medical attention. He later left the premises and reported the incident at Gulu Central police station.
A close source who spoke to Radio Rupiny on the condition of anonymity revealed that Ojok and Akworo had been embroiled in persistent domestic disputes, likely escalating to this tragic confrontation.
Ocira Lok Oroma, the director of Stone Wall Security, who expressed deep sorrow over the incident said investigations were still ongoing to ascertain the specifics of the shooting.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa west police spokesperson, confirmed the incidents to radio Rupiny. He criticized managers at the security firm for skipping crucial regulations.
"They must ensure that guards hand in their firearms at the start of each day. A miss is a serious oversight in maintaining safety and security protocols within the organization," he said.
