Three people are in Police custody as suspects in the murder of a woman in Uganda's western district of Ntungamo.
Police named the deceased as Kedress Naekeree, a resident of Butare ward in Kauhunga sub-county.
Her lifeless body was found hanging by a rope in front of her house, where she lived with her grandson, according to Police.
He told Police that two men "grabbed and strangled" his grandmother, before hanging her body. Their motive was not known.
In a Police statement — along with pictures from the crime scene — on social media platform X on Friday, no details on the murderers' motive were included.
Upon the discovery, following an alert, the area Police deployed their sniffer dog — named Yudah — and introduced it to the scene of crime.
The dog picked up a scent, which led the Police to the house of a one Mercy — about a kilometre away from Naekeree's house.
Mercy, who was identified as the daughter-in-law of the murdered woman, was subsequently arrested.
"Mercy has so far revealed three other accomplices, two of whom are in Police custody and the other [is] on the run," said Police.
