President Yoweri Museveni has commended the Banyala Kingdom in Kayunga district for promoting unity among its people.

“We appreciate the dedication, focus, and commitment of all the people who have participated in all ways to see that the kingdom becomes stronger and stronger,” applauded Museveni.

Banyala kingdom is among the three Ugandan tribes which claimed autonomous status from Buganda in the early 2000.  Others are the Kooki Kingdom in Rakai district and Buruli Kingdom in Nakasongola district.

According to Museveni, many victories will be attained as Banyala continues to work in unity, focusing on changing and developing their communities.

When the government restored cultural institutions, Museveni said, it was intentional to provide an opening for the cultural institutions to fully participate in the development of their peoples’ livelihood, especially in fighting impoverishment.

President Museveni's remarks were in his speech delivered on Friday during the coronation anniversary celebrations of His Royal Highness the Ssabanyala, Rtd. Maj. Baker Kimeze Mpagi Byarufu.
