President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made his way to the Basic Military Training School in Kaweweta, Nakaseke district, on Monday, April 28, to lead the pass-out ceremony, marking the graduation of 10,007 freshly trained soldiers into the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The significant event, which highlights the country’s growing military strength, attracted senior military officials, including the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, his deputy, and other top army commanders.

As part of the programme, President Museveni was taken through a detailed terrain modelling exercise (a simulation representing actual battlefields) to assess the tactical preparedness of the recruits.

With the main ceremony taking place at Kaweweta, some of the soldiers attended the event virtually from other training locations, including Kasenyi in Entebbe, Ruhengere in Mbarara, and the Air Force Training School in Nakasongola.

This latest batch of recruits strengthens Uganda’s commitment to building a modern, professional, and well-prepared army in the face of regional and global security challenges.
