KAMPALA - The Homes and Construction Expo has filled Millenium Park with a buzz as people come in to see different players in the home industry.

Sponsored by Pepsi and at an entrance fee of only sh 10, 000, the expo has brought an array of exhibitors such as those dealing in roofing, home appliances, solar energy, sanitary ware, and home financing (banks).

Why the expo

“The expo is good because very many sectors are here, showcasing their brands and the timing is good because children have returned for the holiday. The traffic is good as people have come,” says Milton George Mukula, the trade and marketing manager at Uganda Baati.

“We have brought out tile profile category of roof sheets whose brands include: Orientile, Romantile and Versatile. Another key brand to watch out for at this expo is the stone-coated tile profile sheet, which has come as a good alternative to clay tile,” he says.

Mukula explains further that the stone-coated tile is normal steel, but stone-coated. Its brand name is 'Lifestile'.

“It is unique because it is light, and not heavy like clay tiles; plus, they can fit on any structure—bungalow or storeyed building,” he says, adding: “It costs sh 35, 000 per piece.”

Showcasing their new decking sheet, Mukula says, “We have introduced a decking sheet, which replaces the conventional max pans. Anybody building a storeyed building can come to Uganda Baati and get a decking sheet.”

Additionally, Mukula says: “We also have roof nails that don’t rust because they have a rubber ring after the top of the nail.”
