The police in Soroti city have arrested the wife of the director of Jozan Nursery and Primary School, Suzan Vivian Kedi.
Her arrest on Monday, February 10, was conducted following wider Police investigations into the suspected murder of a Primary One pupil of the school, Joan Faith Apio, 5, which occurred last week.
Her arrest was confirmed to New Vision by the Regional Police Commander, East Kyoga, Damalie Nachuha.
She also disclosed that the director’s brother, whose name she did not disclose, was also arrested on Monday morning at the school, which the police have cordoned off.
“It’s true she is in our custody over the murder of the pupil in the school. We also arrested the brother of the director that we got at the school, which is the scene of the crime,” Nachuha told New Vision on Monday evening.
She said the police are still gathering more evidence in that regard and have asked the public to trust them on the matter.
Nachuha said the accused shall be produced in court once major investigations are complete.
Suzan now joins her husband, Joseph Kedi, school headteacher David Kadimba, matron Osula Adongo, and a teacher in custody.
Her arrest coincided with a call from Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding for the indefinite closure of the school.
Nachuha asked for patience from the community, noting that they are handling the matter professionally and that the public should not doubt their capacity.
